Happy 88th Birthday, Edward Gorey

If you are a PBS Mystery Fan, you are already familiar with the work of Edward Gorey from the opening animation, described on the PBS website as “macabre and merry” at the same time. In fact, Gorey illustrated and wrote many books, including T.S. Eliot’s Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats, upon which the Broadway show, Cats, was based. If are looking for an entertainment read, try these works available either in the Stevenson Library collection or upon request from our consortium partners through the SHArc Catalog: The World of Edward Gorey and Old Possum’s Book, both available upon request through SHArc. Also The House with a Clock in its Walls, Stevenson Juvenile Collection, or Amphigorey Again, Stevenson Circulating Collection.

New Children’s Book Area

Come see our new area for children’s books! No longer in the tight corner of the library, the children’s book section is displayed with new shelving near the Education Department offices in the library. Plenty of couches, window light, and study space so you can get together for easy book searching and studying!
